Cecilia was a three-sport athlete at Western Oregon (then OCE) and a standout for the Wolves softball team in the late 1970s. She played catcher from 1975-77 and was named the team MVP her senior year. In 1975, the Wolves advanced to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, placing seventh. A quote from the student newspaper reads, "Ward, the OCE Wolves' starting catcher, played a valuable part in the women's three-win and one-loss weekend in Southern Oregon. She blasted a fifth-inning homer in the Wolfpack's 20-3 thumping of OIT, drove in four runs, and went three for five at the plate."
Cecilia also played basketball and field hockey and was named the Female Athlete of the Year at OCE in 1977.
Cecilia is currently the Controller of a planning and architecture firm. She continues to participate in recreational soccer and tennis, and has been a member of the same co-ed slow pitch team for 35 years.
