Cheryl Patterson was a four-sport standout at OCE from 1969-73...Was a four-year starter as a goalie on the field hockey squad, and threw the javelin on the track and field team...Also played basketball and softball...She set the state record in the javelin in 1970 as a freshman with a toss of 126-7...She bettered that effort as a sophomore with a throw of 137-4, and finished fifth at the national championships...Her 440 relay squad also earned All-American honors with a fourth place finish...She placed fifth again at nationals in 1972, this time with a throw of 140-8, a Northwest Women’s College record at the time...As a senior, she won the Northwest championships for the fourth year in a row, improving to 149-0...She again placed fifth at nationals that spring.
